After pulling the head off of my '78 (carburetor) to replace valve guides, (see previous posts) I noticed that there are two electrical sensors, each with two connections, on the bottom side of the intake manifold. No wires where attached when I pulled the head off but I noticed a couple of loose wires directly below the intake that looked as if they might be the right length to connect to the sensors. Any ideas?
I live in California and smog devices need to stay in place.
wires underneath intake
Re: wires underneath intake
well one of those would be your oil sensor (not smog relate) and I can't think what the second one is.
Re: wires underneath intake
I removed the wire for the oil sensor and installed a gauge, so I know where that wire goes but there are four other wires coming out of a bundle that go to alternator and oil sensor. I cannot see if there are any other places these wires go to. The car seems to run fine without these wires being hooked up. I just had my valve guides replaced and, while I had the intake off, was curious if anybody know where these wires went. I don't even know what these sensors are called or what they do so I can't look them up in a wiring diagram.
Re: wires underneath intake
Both my sensors are on the right side, but, yes, that's what they look like. No wires were connected but there are four wires below that look like they would fit.
