Another guy who couldn't go any longer without a Spider in the garage. Quite a few of us here have a similar story, I suffered without one for 26 years.
What shape is your 80 in? Very low mileage, so hopefully it's in good condition.

Yep, story sounds very familiar. Great to have you back. Nothing more fun than a drive in a Spider. Third Spider in 24 years. The first one in the mid 80's.. I was young, broke and spent more time working on the car than my girfriend. Sold but made a few dollars. The second one was an 83 that I owned for about 10 years and sold in 2004. Never should have sold that car. It was a dream and ran like a champ. Made a few dollars. It took five months before I had the most recent 82 purring. Only a sticking caliper to work through now.... I think! This site will be a great resourse as you work on the 80. I'll have to hold on the this one for a while because there is no way I'll get the money back that I have put into her with parts. Still.... kinda cool to start off with a car to take the girls out and 25 years later have the same type of car in the garage to take my wife out on date night. Now if I can only keep the kids away from the car it will most certainly last a few years.

Welcome back!
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

My Spider is in very good shape. I had to repair a small spot on the rear floor pan. I am in the process of painting the engine compartment and applying new undercoating. Got the paint for the body too. I am going to strip off the old paint and give it a show room paint job. Too hot right now in SC need to wait for the temperature to go down a bit. Reconditioning the top frame. Can't wait to get into the engine. It ran fine but I want to check it all out. Yes I got the BUG and I love it.

I will post some pic's I am stripping off the ugly orange paint that had drip marks all over the place. I am going to paint it a jag color. Metalic jade green. The car is totally apart right now.
