clutch noise
clutch noise
When I engage the clutch on my '81 2000 it makes a noise that I would describe as a "squelch". Any idea what might be the cause?
Re: clutch noise
defective squelch suppressor? Seriously, does it matter if the engine is running or not?
Re: clutch noise
It makes the noise only when the engine is running. Where is the squelch suppressor located? Adjacent to the squeak suppressor?
Re: clutch noise
If it makes the noise just as the clutch pedal is slightly depressed you may have a bad release bearing or pilot bearing. I'm betting a previous owner removed the squelch suppressor
Re: clutch noise
As for guessing where the noise is coming from, really need some details. Does it squelch as you are just starting to depress clutch?? Does it make a diff if it is in gear or not??
Throw out bearing will generally make a pretty consistant noise from the moment the clutch is depressed till it is let all the way up.
Disc can make noise as it enganges/disengages flywheel, pilot brg can make noise, lots of options.
