Anyone done this or know if its do-able?
Looking at maybe going rack and pinion, and given i have an early model 124 with 1 piece steering shaft, i need to consider this option.
Will also give me some tilt adjustment as a side benefit, not to mention the added safety of a collapsable column.

It has been done many times and it takes a bit of work. This is not impossible.
