Well I'd like to say hi and introduce myself again. I briefly posted on here once before. I have a feeling I will be on here and other forums quite a bit. I am a 22 year old student that works full time in racine wi, just south of milwaukee.
When I posted earlier my grandfather and I we're looking for another spider to modify as he wants to keep the one we restored stock a month ago he ran across a spider with a solid body and top in northern mi but it hadn't been run in 12 years. I couldn't make it to the auction but I got a call saying he ot this car for $850 I was pretty happy as I've wanted to have one for myself. What I didn't know is he also got a parts car the body is completely hopeless and the frame cracked and twisted when he moved it but it has a good engine tranny and lots of other things I can steal off it.
So we were brainstorming and its either an original car with a beefed up motor ect. Or my firend and I (an engineer) came up with an awesome plan to put the 302 I'm rebuilding in the spider. I've heard the ?x swap has been done but I've never seen more than one or more piture, I also done just want to pile on a few extra pounds to the front end why mess up the great handling car.
Right now the plan is to have a roll bar that also surounds the driver and passanger on the sides and also runs through the dash and under it to support the car where I cut a section of the firewall out to slide the engine back 3 to 6 inches.
I still have to get the car stripped down and pull the engine/trans to make measurements but I'm pretty sure this will be the rout we are going to take.
I will start another thread with some more details, ill get the codes off the engines and trans as I will have 2 extras and many other parts in case anyone is looking for something.
