If ever anyone in the Monadnock areas wants to have their Spider worked on Alex is the man. A perfectionist with a real love of vintage sportscars, and knowledgeable about Spiders. Biggest surprise? How fair his charges were.
Here is what I had done:
- Solved the starting problem with a new coil, a tune up (points, plugs, etc) with a switch over to the single point system.
Rehung center exhaust pipe getting rid of severe sag.
Total rebuild of the front suspension with new control arms, idler arms, shocks and all bushings.
Total rebuild of the brakes with all new master cylinder, slave cylinders, calibers, discs, pads, proportion valve and flexible hoses.
Replaced timing belt and pulley.
Replaced parking brake cable.
Mounting and balancing four new tires.
State inspection.
Whohoo!
Total cost: Less than $2000 for all the parts and labor. Fair, eh?
Now for the fun stuff: Driving her on the Monadnock area back roads. Can you say 100 miles with no stoplights and little traffic? Yeah, I thought you could.
So local members... I'll soon be planning a group ride. I look forward to meeting you!
