Good morning, My name is Steve Alspaugh, and I live in Van Wert, Ohio, along with my wife Jan and our 1981 Spider 2000. I purchased my Spider in 2001 and proceeded to restore to the best of my ability. The car was fairly solid as far as mechanics, but I took it to Mike's Foreign Car in Columbus, Ohio. Through the years we have replaced and repaired, and now she runs very well. I have replaced and repaired the interior by stripping her down to bare metal and finding no real rust problem. I installed a new dash, that was no walk in the park, new carpet, and seats recovered in ultra vinyl, new steering wheel and a lot of misc. items. My latest addition was a set of 14" Panasport wheels and 185x60x14 BF Goodrich G-Force. I used this forum a lot to compare what other members were running on their Fiats. The paint presents well but is a 10 foot car. That is my next project, along with a decision on with or without those overly large bumpers. I appreciate a website where comparisons can be made and questions can be asked.

Hi Steve,
Welcome. We need to see pics of your Spider. The large bumpers are not very pleaseing to the eye. Take a look at NJFIATS.ORG. CLICK on members car and take a look at my 1980's. The blue spider was converted from the large bumpers to the early bumbers. They need to be rechromed but that will have to wait. George Kaltenbach

Good afternoon, You might say I have been absent for a few years. I watched this website a few years ago and got some ideas for restoration. I did a lot of work in 2002-2003, decided to retire in 2006 and concentrated on making that happen. Just after retiring the economy kind of caught us by surprise and backed off the Spider for a while. I decided to continue to improve the Spider now and just added a set of Panasports. I will take some pictures and get them posted. Thanks for your interest. Also, thanks for the website for bumpers. I'm kind of on the fence as to which way to go.
