Your swivel see saw reminds me of a program I saw on KCET last night about the Play Pumps they were installing in Africa. The thought was the kids could play on the spinning round wheel while it pumped water into a holding tank. Was fine till the pumps stopped working in a few months now they dont have any water...nice they left them with no back up hand pump like they have used for the last 100 years without an issue.
I bring this up in case you want to hook a pump or alternator up to this rig so while your kids play your batteries can get charged

I don't know what the base is actually. I found it at the steel yard. It has a bearing and can be greased. The rest was fabricated. I couldn't find any directions online so I winged it.

I just wanted to say that this thread is the reason I found this forum in the first place, back about a year ago when I started my project. I think I googled "fiat spider restoration" and found it.
Since then, I return to this thread and re-read it continually as a good motivator to work on my car. I've followed the steps here as closely as I could, while slowly amassing my tools- A cherry picker, a 60 gallon compressor, a media blaster, etc.
I didn't use a rotisserie, but I did manage to turn my car on it's side well enough to redo the bottom.
I'm still waiting on a welder and a good hvlp gun, and paint... Eh, my car will be done sometime in 2013, probably.
But it will be done right, because Brady has been showing me the way.

It sure does take a lot to be able to do the restoration. Thinking back at the steps that I have already done gives a good feeling of accomplishment of doing it myself. I hope to have my car on the road next year. Just have to find the money.

wow dude incredible build. My only question is, you put 342342 hours in this car... will you ever drive it?

I'm working on the bumperettes now. Almost done with the front. I put the trunk and hood on. I thought I'd show you a pic of the back with the hood on. It's going to look so cool. With the back bumperettes, It's going to look even more cool.

Brady, your posts just kill me that I can't be in my garage working on my car 24/7! We started our projects about the same time and you are so far ahead of me and have done a lot more custom metal work! Do share the details of your dash. I was thinking that down the road I was going to try to copy the custom wood that we have all seen in that black Spider in Germany with the one piece contoured dash, and it looks like you did it.
