Another 73 -- Mt. Shasta, CA

Post by Alleycatdad »

Hello from true Northern CA. Just picked up a 73; our first Fiat. Seems more solid than we expected, we spent driver money and that's what this will be. Timing belt and Guibo on the way; shocks arrive soon and then we'll get 'er aligned and see what's what--if I can get my wife to stop driving it long enough to do any of that...

Sorry bout pic quality; she didn't stop driving 'till it was dark (and she discovered the headlight issue...)

Yes, that's a 50/50 paint job-looks good at 50 feet/50 mph!

Great forum.

Hooray! Another '73 :D

Hello and Welcome, Steve. If you paid "driver" price for the Spider, you did pretty good, as those bumpers and wheels are worth more than a grand alone. Where'd you find such a clean, tidy early Spider?

Is that a yellow Caterham 7?

Don't be dismayed by the low activity level on the forum recently; there's a national Fiat drive-in going on this week.

It showed up a block away after not selling in a nearby town for a while--we have a big 4th of July event here and they thought it would sell better down here over the 4th--and it didn't! Made the price *very* negotiable.

Not a Caterham, but I'd LOVE to have one!

Hydesville, eh?

Hard to pick a better place to live if you're into bikes or sports cars! I was through there on a bike a few weeks ago.

I've been told--not being in charge and all--that this is the boss's disposable car, and at considerably less than dirtbike money, I can't argue. Current plan is to do the shocks and alignment, timing belt if I can talk her into it, guibo, same deal, and then just drive it until the snow flies. At that point, if it's still viable, I will be *allowed* to address other issues that might take the car off the road for more than an hour or two--electrics, etc.

What with all of the toys she lets me have, I'm in no position to argue.
