GA project for son

Post by Charles101 »

Hi all,
My name is Charles I am working on a 1971 spider for my 17 year of son here in Suwanee GA. Anyone know of any local part suppliers. The last Fiat I owned was a Dino coupe while leaving in Italy in the late 70's.

Hi there, wecome from north of the 49th.I hope the youngster is getting his nails dirty as well. I believe there are a few here doing a father and son restoration/getting the damb thing runing projects. As for parts, there are several vendors about,I don't know them all but some have sourced a parts car to help them with most items and then using the forum/craigslist and of couse the vendors for new stuff.
Good luck and have fun.
What shape is the car in? issues?

Congrats, I am in Atlanta with a 76. Congrats on the project.

Most parts are via Internet at Internaional-auto.com, vickauto.com, and midwest-bayless.com. Some of the standard Advance, PepBoys,... carry some hoses and alimited parts.

The main Fiat 124 mechanic is located in Buford, GA. Keep north on Buford Hwy from Suwanne and get to E. Moreno St. Dave and Chris Weaver. Father and son that only work on that model car. They know everything. 404-399-7733

Thanks for the info, Yes it is a father/son project. The car is actually in very good condition body straight no missing trim, no rust, engine runs but carb needs rebuilt ( current project ), Needs total brake system overhaul. Everything works except air conditioning.Interior in very good condition except for yellowed & cracked on dash wood, 1 tear in drivers seat.

Charles,
Welcome to the Forum. I just finished a nearly 2 year complete tear down restoration of the "family" Fiat. It was my dad's car - unfortunately, the restoration wasn't a father/son project as my dad lives out of state and would likely rather have a root canel than work on a car  .
Anyway, after completing this project I'm fairly well versed in taking apart and putting back together one of these great little cars. I'm located in Lilburn and will be more than happy to assist you and your son in your Spider project if you need it.

Thanks for the info Craig. Dixie Fiatfest sounds fun, unfortunately I have other plans that weekend. Looking forward to hearing more about Italian Car Day, though.
