dash gauges don't work 82 Spider

Post by bran100 »

Over the last 2 days, my dash gagues - fuel, tach and alternator as well as the blinkers don't work. I checked the ground from the fuel gauge and confirmed it is grounded fine. All fuses look good and were tested with an ohm meter as well.

Sometimes the gauges would come back on, but as soon as I would try to use my blinkers, everything would die again.

Any ideas on what could be causing it? I'lll change the blinker flasher tomorrow in hopes that, as ridiculous as it sounds, that could be the problem.

Locate the correct fuse, clean fuse and terminals, check voltage with a meter while operating the system. Since it is fed thru ign system, if voltage is low, could be in ign switch, or poor connection at connector at switch. good luck 8)

I know brandon heard this, but for anyone else reading.....

disconnect at least the negative battery terminal before doing any electrical work.

safety...

pretty hard to track down voltage drops with the battery disconnected. A good diagnostic tool to fabricate is a jumper wire with a circuit breaker wired in. You can use the jumper in place of a fuse without the danger of melting anything down
