The Father's day weekend was our debut at Mosport with the VARAC Festival.

Near the beginning of the first video, what the heck is that blasting past you on the run down to corner 4? A Lotus 11 or something? Huge speed differential.

But have not seen him in action yet.
My other car is a 1968 Triumph GT6 MK1. I sort of always figured I'd be racing a British car, but then this silly FIAT stormed into my life.
I'm afraid I do not have many shots of the engine bay right now on the FIAT.
My web server is in a box while we move into a new house.

The car passing me is called a Kiki. More or less an oversized Lotus with a V8.
Crazy fast and yes the yellow one got a little close, but is all good.
But have not seen him in action yet.

Andre - Nice lines at Mosport. I like the way you're treating the transmission - it should last a while the way you're shifting. The car looks good! Well done!

The extra speed will come in time.
At least I now know the potential of the 124.
Like I said highly impressed and very happy to gone this route.
Even my better half was pleased when I came home with the car in 1 piece.
I'm sure not all my weekends will be so productive, but looks like the homework has paid off.
Will address that quite exhaust issue and look over the suspension.
I need to do the oil system next. I have a remote filter and an accusump waiting to go in.
Simply ran out of time before the first race to install it all.

It was a full frame off restoration.
Which I will never do again!
Initially I wanted to race a GT6, but ran into a problem.
I tired to get into a friend's car. That's when I found out I could not climb in and out cleanly.
The FIAT relationship was influenced by a racing friend and well now the rest is history.

Oh, I have every receipt in a (large) binder with clear pouches so I can see each one... but NO WAY am I going to "document the costs"...!!! Total them up???

Dead serious. I tracked it all.
I wanted to know just how much it would cost to go racing.
I knew from the get go I needed certain things to work in my fav.
I would have to buy a new seat, the cage on any used racer would not fit more for sure (I'm 6.2) and all the used cars we either dead/done or way over my budget.
Plus I'm hands on. The journey is not nearly as fun when you just buy a turn key solution
So I learned a few lessons.
Things like a roll cage cost me $1300 because I it myself vs $3600 I was quoted by a fab shop.
One reason the FIAT became my race car was it only cost me $2700 USD.
Plus the specs. I mean vintage racing with a dual over head cam 1.8L, 5spd and 4 disc brakes. heheh
I'm certain its a little cheaper to get started on the US side, but I was able to save a lot of money purchasing used race clothing and finding other deals.
I did buy a new HANS and really the safety kit cost me more then the go fast stuff.
But now I have a solid base to work from.
