Hi again all from Ridgecrest Ca

Post by TJBONES »

Been away for awhile but just got back home and i'm diving back into my 1977 Fiat Spider. I have to get this baby ready for good old Ca smog test by the end of this month(thats when my temp sticker runs out). I just posted a question about a problem I'm having on the Fiat Spider board if anybody can help that would be great. Gonna take it down today for a pre test to see where i stand. I think I'm gonna eat a bunch of beans drive up to Arnold's office and give him a dose of my smog............LOL

Welcome to the forum. Hope you got some pics to share. It must really be a pain to worry over smog testing on a 33 year old car.

Smog test... In San Antonio we do not even have an emmission test. When I lived back east I remember getting the 83 spider ready for the NJ tests. glad that is over with. Does Cali have some kind of exemption for older cars?

In Cali cars or trucks that are 1975 and older are excempt B.S. huh. Now they make us smog are diesel trucks but if it has any after market add ons it will fail. Mine has a banks kit which means it will fail and I'm pissed.

I live in a small rural community in Northern Ca. We don't have annual or biannual smog checks, only upon change of ownership, but the Califorina Air Resources Board has been setting up remote monitering stations and sending out warnings. They say to repair your car and that if you get another you may be subject to a $800.00 fine. They had one of them set up about five years ago, but I heard it got lead posioning :)
