Hello

Post by jb3513 »

I have been out of the spider business for a couple years now. I had a 76 and an 80 and sold both to fund an MGB ( dont laugh). Now I am on the hunt to replace the spiders and have greatly enjoyed this site. I hope to meet some of you in the near future. I am looking for a 79 or a turbo. I am looking at an 81 turbo on tuesday, but I think it may be a little worn out. I will let yall know if I become its new owner.

Hi jb, welcome to the forum. I'm guessing you're in an area where you don't have to smog a car. 1979 was the worst year for smog crap added to the cars to pass federal standards. You may already be aware of it, but the 2000 designation along with the 1995 cc engine that started in 1979 got a lot better perfomance in 1980 (California cars) and 1981for the rest of the country when they went to fuel injection and got rid of all the smog crap except a cat. In any event, good luck in your search, and keep us posted.

Where are you from, Jb? I know of a beautiful 85.5 Pinin in North Carolina. The fella has moved on to more expensive cars and is ready to give up his Fiat......like many, I'm sure he'll come to his senses and come back eventually.

I live in Birmingham, Al. Thanks for the heads up but I am interested in an older model. I looked at a Turbo on Tuesday, what a sad car. My search continues.
