Tip on a great lube. This is a teflon lube that is...available at Radio Shack
1.Superior adhesion: stays where put.
2. Wont wash off, disperse, break down or turn rancid
3. Does not attract dust or other contaminants
4. Impervious to salt and fresh water
5. All temperature use from -65° to +600°
6. Clear

I search at Radio Shack and everywhere else. I can't find this stuff. Any other ideas on where to get it?

I got the valve covers and air intake polished. We'll I did it. They looked great. I clear coated the valve covers. They came out great. I did the air intake yesterday. It looks like sh#t! The clear didn't go on smooth. I had to sand it off Now what do I do with it? Did anyone else clear coat their air intake? It's going to take awhile to get it looking like it did before It was coated.

I put clear coat on a set of aluminum adjustable cam pulleys. It looks nice in the beginning, but yellowed over time. I think clear coat may not be a good choice for the hot engine environment.

I think SpiderRey used engine clear on his and he didn't have any yellowing.
I had used Auto stripper to get the clear back off. Then power washed it. I used some 500 grit to clean up a couple areas. Then after about 31/2 hours polished back to here. Almost done. I don't think I'm going to coat it with anything. I'll just have to keep touching it up. Hopefully the valve covers hold up. If not, I just do the same with them. They actually look better without the clear. I just didn't want to have to keep going back to them.

Sanding it off would not have been my first step. I like carb cleaner to take off my paint screw ups on metal parts.

I didn't sand it off. I used the auto stripper to remove it. I had to use emery to fix the gouges I put on it in a couple of areas. I tried to buff the clear to make it right. All it did was eat through it. So I had to even it out.

I've heard good things about Sharkhide metal protectant and have been wanting to try it. The aluminum boat guys swear by it.

Hi guys,
I've been pretty busy doing things for the kids. They come first. After doing the totem pole for them. I promised I'd make them a see saw that turns 360*. As soon as this is completed. On the car I go. Thanks for asking though.

Just personal preference, but I would paint the cam covers and intake. Crinkle paint looks great and it's in line with itlian styling. it also has the added benefit of hiding imperfections.
