pattern for wood on center console

Post by urbom »

I am in need of a pattern for the wood insert on the center console of a '69 spider. I started the restoration some time ago, and the original got munched. I have patterns for the dash pieces but am missing one for the center console. Anybody got one they could trace?

Are you talking about the lower shift plate or the center console where the light rheostat and warning brake light is? If it's the latter, there are several different ones that were used, depending on the year model. I could make you a pattern of either, just let me know.

I mean the lower console with the shifter that covers the transmission/driveshaft tunnel. The upper center piece, which is actually in line with the dash and the glove box is done. Mine is two rectangular pieces, top one slightly larger than the bottom. I have the four (instruments, center two pieces, and glove box) done, bolivian rosewood veneer over baltic birch ply. Just managed to lose the insert for the shifter console over my protracted disassembly time.

wood trim

Post by manoa matt »

I have one of those. It has a metal base with the wood laminated on top. The wood laminate is chipped and broken is places. If you are planning on making the wood piece to glue on, then this would be the perfect base. Send me an e-mail to: matt.scarton@gmail.com and I'll send you some pictures tonight when I get home. I'm in Hawaii, so I'm 5 hours behind Eastern Standard Time. You may not get my response till Wed. morning.

Thanks
