79 Air Inject Bypass Help

Post by Samy »

1979 Spider 2000, I swapped out the terrible manifold and carb with a 1800 single plane manifold and the Weber 34/36 carb. Wow what a difference!! I highly recommend doing this to anyone with a 79 or 78....

My question is what to do with the two air inject pipes on top of the head that go into the air filter. I want to install a K&M air filter, but I am not sure if I can just plug them. If I can plug them does anyone know what the thread size is.
I did plug one air inject pipe, and I think now there is back pressure that is pushing the dipstick up. I also noticed a smaller pipe on the exhaust that goes back to the head. Should I block it off (or remove it) as well?? Thanks! Samy

It takes a metric oil pan plug to properly plug the two holes on top of the head next to the spark plugs. It took a lot of searching, but I found a local hardware store that had an assortment to choose from till I found the correct ones.
