Megasquirt - TPS Adapter Plate

Post by unplugged »

I am trying to build an adapter plate to mount the required Throttle Position Sensor in place of the existing Throttle Position Switch. I am having trouble getting all of the holes to line up. I thought it might be easier to fill the existing 2 screw holes used to hold the existing TPS and then retap new holes for the adapter plate.

Anyone know of any material that can be used to fill a screw hold that would allow me to retap over it?

Thanks

J B Weld is amazing stuff, but I wouldnt want to tap a hole in it. Aluminum and "pot metal" are not good to drill and tap either. Could you make a thin plate with studs in it, holes for existing screws, then put nut against tps? Also allow for some adjustment of the tps afterwards. goodluck!

I had a machineshop make me an adaptor plate for my conversion. I think it cost about 50$ and they made two pieces (granted, they accidently made two so they gave me the second one for free.

I have a CAD drawing of my adaptor but it is at home (I am at college) so unfortunately that doesnt do you much good. I am definitely glad I had it down though as it makes for a much more professional looking install.

There is a product I found at the local automotive fastener shop I thought was cool. It's in a can with an applicator and it's used to repair aluminum and can be drilled for bolts. It dries as hard as aluminum and actually looks and feels like it. If you're interested, I'll call the place and find out the name of it.
