Hi rmalicki, sounds like you got yourself a pretty nice Spider for about a $7,000 investment so far. That's about my budget, hopefully a bit lower.

Doug, that's a great story. You're a brave man buying your car sight unseen, I'm glad it worked out for you. No, I'm not a body man unfortunately and I am aware of the shock tower rust issues as well as elsewhere. I hope to get any car that I'm serious about buying up on a lift and inspected by somebody qualified. I agree with what you're saying, the most important thing is to find one that's structurally sound.

I found mine using this site: [http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?i ... e=&ys=&ye=]
It searches Craigslist, Hemmings, Ebay and others either nationally or by state. I found a rust-free 79 Spider from a guy in Alabama that was going through a divorce and selling all his cars. Cost was $2500.00 and $500.00 for shipping. It needed a little work but over all it has been a great car.
I live in Camp Hill, PA and I found it hard to find a low rust or no rust local Spider.

Greg,

Check this one out. It sure looks good from here. Lower Michigan. A small bumper 74. Just north of South Bend Indiana, it is 600 miles from you. If its near what it says it is, the price looks good. I think it would go higher on ebay.

Thanks ragtop2000, that's a great site. Did you go to Alabama to check the car out before you bought it? I agree that it's hard to find a Spider in the Harrisburg area, I couldn't tell you the last time I saw one on the road.

Hi Doug, thanks for the link. That car's a real find. Unfortunately I have 5 more payments to make on my 06 Honda before I can seriously shop for a Fiat. So I'll be looking for a convertible just as the cold weather hits PA!

No, the guy sent me some pictures and seemed like a good guy. The price was too good not to go for it. I just wired him the $$ and had it shipped to PA.

There is a rumor of a local Spider for sale in Camp Hill. The guy has a 79' & 80' and he's selling the 79'. I am not sure of the details but I will try to find out for you.
