Hello All
so my 82' does this morning stutter which goes something like this car starts immediately and idles fine but once in gear and I attempt to drive away with normal acceleration it stutters and lurches at which time I will have to push the clutch in to avoid stalling or give it lots of gas, it mainly seems to do it in the morning but maybe also when just not driven for a few hours. Sound like an AFM problem or a Cold Start Valve problem? I think I recall my mechanic saying he needed a special piece of test equipment to check the AFM is this correct? Sound familiar? Thanks.
Mike

Re: Morning stutter
Oh yeah I should have mentioned if I let the car warm up/idle for a few minutes or bring it up to 3k rmp for a few seconds then it does not do the stuttering thing. Also once it does the stutter as I am driving away and I shift thru the gears it does not happen again during that driving period/trip.

I would check for drag in the air flow meter door, pull the hose and check the door and make sure it doesnt drag when opened.
