Hello to all,
I just acquired a 1981 Fiat Spider Pininfarina 2000 with 70k original miles on the odometer.
It is silver with black top and blue interior 5 spd.
Car came with all documentation (invoice of purchase in Spokane Wa when new), all dealer performed service and maintenance since new. timing belt, water pump, and associated front gaskets and seals replaced at 65k miles.
All electrical systems, lights gauges function perfectly.
Car looks and runs very nicely and is in original condition! Little or no rust! and close to perfect body.
Top has started to tear on the plastic rear upper portion of the plastic window where it meets the top vinyl.
So far completed tune up, plugs, oil change, and checked the timing, all is good.
5spd trans shifts smooth through all gears, but I am going to change trans and diff fluids in the very near future.
Happy to be on this forum as I will probably need the expertise of all here at some time in the future.
I am the third owner.
Sure gets a lot of looks and ,"what kind of car is that"? questions
I will play with it for a while and have some fun!
glad to be here,
Chuck H

Welcome, Chuck. You will indeed find this form very helpful. With the help of Spider Jim, and a whole lot of advice from other forum members, I successfully tackled a timing belt change today. I don't think I could have done it without the Forum.

Hi Chuck. Sounds like you have a car pretty much ready to go for the "season". I'm north of you accross the line by 40 miles.
The past few days have been bloody cold (snow on the mnts) but perhaps this weekend? Hope its better down your way.
Lots of great help here when needed..

welcome to the forum, I'm in Portland. The forum is a great source of info and if your car is like mine, a place for comiseration, twice this week it keep me from driving my brake-less '78 in to the columbia and just walking away. Your sounds like a jewel good luck and see you at a rally or something soon!

Hi Chuck, welcome to the forum. What part of eastern Wa. are you in? I was born in Richland and even though I've lived in So Cal for 30 years now I still consider Washington home.
We're looking forward to pics of your new car.

Hi Ron,
I was born in Sunnyside Wa and have lived and raised my family in West Richland where I now reside,Looking to retire in the near future! (I hope)
I have always been a gearhead and caraholic, I will admit that!
Just picked this one up and am having fun with it.
I am not very computer literate but would like to post up some pictures in the near future.
I guess I could ask for help from my kids, they know all that stuff.
All is good,
Chuck

To post pics on the site you have to download them to a photo sharing site first, like Flickr or Photobucket. Then copy the image and paste it in your post. (Be sure to reduce the image to roughly 600x500 in photobucket so the pic doesn't run off the page when it's posted.)
Here's a tutorial on how it's done:
