Fiat fun

I recently got tags for my 82 fiat spider. I paid $500 for the car (not running and had been sitting for 2.5 years) from a friend of a friend who had owned the car since 1986 and was reluctant to part with it. I bought the car in August, got it running within a week, and worked on it as much as possible until the winter and didn't get much done on it during my son's wrestling season. After new paint, wheels, interior and other misc items it is a good looking, good running machine and very fun to drive. New exhaust which will consist of a header, 2 " pipe and a dual tip muffler will be installed next week. I can't wait to hear how it sounds. When I took my 16 yr old son for his first ride I excellerated thru some hills and curves and noticed that he reached down and grabbed the door handle. I asked him if he thought that was really going to help. He just smiled and asked "what do you think would happen if we rolled over?" I reminded him that he had helped me reset the windshield after the paint and interior. His next question was "do they make a roll bar for these?" My 6 yr old daughter is my most frequent passenger and she has made up a green fiat song that she sings while we are driving. My wife is still luke warm about the car since she can't drive a stick shift (thank God) but likes to take short rides. If it were up to my daughter we wouldn't drive anything else.

Welcome, Meangreen. I think your boy will warm up to the car once he sees how it attracts girls. Two of my daughters already have dibs on their favorite Fiats for when I no longer need them.

Welcome to the forum. Good onya for getting the car back on the road, especially an 82. (Which most would agree is the best year Spider.)
We'd love to see pics of your car. Did you change colors, or keep it original?

The car was ivory and I almost kept the original color but kids talked me into green. I have been unable to upload any photos, i may be doing something wrong. I have an album that I just updated with the photos of the car after lowering on my facebook. You can search for sheldon campbell and then just find the album. I have included photos from my first look at the car thru the transitions and present day. I hope I will figure out how to upload photos soon.
