hi there
I have bought twin idf weber carbs from a 2 liter 131 racing,i also have the fiat intake manifold
My spider has the fuel injection on it, i want to get rid of
what do i need more to get it work?
Can i make it so that if it doesn't work well , I can put the fi back on?
and what can i expect in terms of hp ?
i also have a 1800 head, but that needs some work
i hope anyone else has done this before and can give me step by step advice :lol:
I want to get rid of the FI because i want to tune my spider a bit, and i love the sound of carbs

Get the 1800 head done! That's the best of both worlds from what I read! This is what I want to do. It bumps up the compression too! So if you don't like it you have the original right there!
1978 Spyder 1800 make that 2L! Finally making real progress!

i already seen that site and it has lots of info
but like you said it's about carburetted cars and mine is FI
I'd like to know if there's more to it than just remove the intake ,isolate the connectors, and mount the webers.
the pressure from the fuel pump, is that to high?
must i place a pressure regulator or other fuel pump?
do i have to do something more with the elecrics? ignition, etc
there must be someone who has already done this and can give me tips

the 1800 head is going on eventually, but it has to wait a while for now

You definatly need to lower the fuel pressure, maybe a low volume pump, as you only need 3 lbs. The ignition should be fine,

You will need to remove your EFI fuel pump. You can put on a low pressure pump that puts out 3.8psi. Some alteration of the multirelay will be needed to power the pump w/o the EFI. The EFI harness can be removed w/o the whole cars harness. The fuel lines will be fine for the feed and return so no need to cut or splice the metal.

You can probably get a plug for your O2 sensor from a local performance shop. Swap out the water T on the front of your motor as you don't need the sensor. The throttle body heater that was on some EFI cars, can be bypassed. Simply run the hose down the center of your head, by the plug wires.

About the power difference... You should have less low end power but more high end. On a stock motor, I would guess about 5-10hp over stock, at the flywheel. So you may push 85hp or maybe as high as 90hp to the wheels, if you're lucky.

If you are doing this to improve reliability and drivability, you'll be disappointed. Those carburetors will be fun for some spirited driving.
