Just aquired 1978 spider!!!

Post by mobigly73 »

Hello all I have just purchased my first Fiat. Its a 1978 Spider 1800. I will post some pics when I get home but it is going to be a project. Any help in finding replacement parts and advice will be greatly appreciated since I am new to the Fiat world

Hello Mo, and Welcome!
There will be quite a few Fiats from the area at Carlisle on May 22, only a few weeks away. A good opportunity to meet other owners, inquire about local parts sources, etc.
You can Search this forum for problems and solutions common on these cars.

Hi Mobigley,
Put together a needs list and send me a PM. We can probably help you out with parts. Just had two parts cars come in. Welcome to the site. George

First thing I would do is check the shock towers and rear axle mounting links to frame for rust...might make a better parts car.
Here is what you are looking for: Scrape away any under coating to check condition.

Welcome. Does that price on the windshield say $70.00? At least the PO kept the only two wheel covers on the same side of the car. Looks like a nice boot cover too.

Shock towers look good and floors are solid just the wheel arches in the rear and drivers side fender have some rust. No it says 700.00 but I paid 600.00

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!! repairs came to a grinding halt today with some unfortunate news about my other car. All I can say is if you are going to have a windsheild repaired be prepared to replace it after they break it. To the tune of $300 which sucks.
That was money for a top and a couple tires. Do you guys think that I should start a thread about the work that I have done or is it not that interesting? I'm on a very tight budget so maybe some advice would be good on how to get her up and running quick.
