Seat Belts too tight
Seat Belts too tight
my 79 spider has red interior so I would like to keep the red seat belts, but they pull so tight when you strap in that i never put mine on. Can the pulley be adjusted or replaced? has anyone bought new seat belt assemblies from the distributors, if so, how well do they work? Red would not be an option from them, but I guess I could live with that.

Re: Seat Belts too tight
I've have just had my setbelts re webbed, I asked them to add an additional 30cm (12 in) into the length and I purchased new longer buckle storks has well, I'll post a photo on Wednesday.
The extra length doesn't affect the operations on the reel.

Damn it I was gonna say go on a diet.wachuko wrote:Loose weight?
I am not sure how much longer you want to the belt to be but here are 2 ideas.
I just replaced my belts and the short side with the push button on it is the cable kind. It seems to be a few inches longer than the original webbing one. That might help
I have seen seat belt extenders

Or remove the belts from the car and clean them maybe something is binding on them.
Re: Seat Belts too tight
The length is not the issue for me (someone else said something about shortening the belt or losing weight??). The pulley mechanism pulls the belt too tight for comfort. Not related to the length of the belt. I was wondering if the mechanism can be replaced or adjusted?

Re: Seat Belts too tight
Torxx, the seat belts should have a clip on the belt that can be slid to a point where the belt is comfortable. Is yours missing?

The picture is no longer available, but does anyone have a picture of the clip in question?
Mine get so tight I drive with one hand holding the belt out.
Thanks.

Re: Seat Belts too tight
,
this might be the one .... for me i have to move it up above my shoulder so it hits the belt guide by the headrest.... makes it not pull tight like you mentioned.... but when i take the belt off it does not retract at all .... just hangs there..(and i hate that).. so i just go without.... i think that after the accident the rescue guys should earn their pay and have to find the body....

New belts aren't in the budget this year. A new idler is, though...
