Vacuum fitting for charcoal cannister

I'm trying to reduce the "old car smell" in my garage (have to try and keep the wife happy), so I want to hook up the vacuum line to the charcoal cannister that the PO had disconnected.

Some other posts here indicate that it may hook up to the carb, or the intake manifold. My '74 carb doesn't have anywhere to hook it up, and my '78 intake manifold only has 1 vacuum fitting for the brakes and the remaining holes are plugged with bolts.

If I can hook it up to the intake manifold, what type/size of vacuum fitting and hose do I need? The local autoparts stores were not very helpful.

Use whatever size hose that matches the fitting on your charcoal canister, and attach the other end to the intake manifold (this is how it was done on my 1970 Spider). The port on the intake manifold has a small orifice built into it to restrict the flow (about the diameter of small paper clip wire).

Is this port/fitting on the intake manifold a FIAT only part, or can I get a universal fitting from somewhere? I assume I have to remove one of the bolts from a blocked off port on my intake and thread something else in there?

Sorry for all the NU-B questions... I do have a shop manual on the way, so hopefully that will help some, too.

On my 75 the charcoal canister has 3 openings
1 - inlet from carb fuel bowl
2 - inlet from gas tank
3 - outlet on top to base of carb to suck out the fumes as needed when running

Managed to get a replacement brake vacuum fitting with an extra connector on it. Hooked it all up, and it seems to work OK. I've got a little plastic reducer to downsize the vacuum hose coming from the intake, to the vacuum hose that connects to the canister... I hope it is restricted enough.
