Hi,
I acquired my 1980 spider a couple of years ago from the estate of a retired RAF officer who imported it from the US to Germany and then into Scotland. The car certainly spent some time in Georgia looking at the emissions ticket on the windscreen. The intention was to get the car up and running last year and then an accident last year put paid to that idea and every other plan I had for the past year. Now I've almost recoverd, the time has come to think about getting the car back on the road.
It is basically in sound condition but does need some tlc to bring it back to its former glory but thankfully nothing too major found so far. There are a number of improvements I've heard rumours about and I'll be posting questions in the relevant technical section.

Welcome! It's good to hear you're on the road to recovering from your accident and ready to take on the task of resurrecting your Spider. We'd love to see pics of your ride. Is it a carbed model or FI?

Wow - three Fiat'rs in Scotland. Amazing! My wife and I spent several weeks prowling cemeteries in the Highlands - Banff, Banchory areas - looking for ancestors. Actually managed to find quite a few. Wish we had my Fiat to drive rather than the little Ford we rented. Welcome to the forum, Angus. It is a tremendous resource for help for just about anything Fiat.

Yes we would love to see some pics when you have a moment.
You might have seen another from Scotland recently checked in. Scotland is definately on the to-do list after a visit with the relatives in the south of the rock.

In answer to mdrburchette my car is fuel injected.
As to the various different types of installation fluids Scotland exports, there are several I could recommend but I'm not sure if you can get them in the US. For starters try Highland Park 12 y.o. In my opinion, one of the best single malts you can get which knocks spots off some of the 18 year old malts I've tried. Another one I enjoy is Laphroaig 15 y.o. The choice of malts is immense and what suits one person may not suit someone else - great excuse to try them all !!
