Does anyone here know about the new IAP Dizzy? Curious about this one. Looked up the instructions on 123 Ignition.nl, and it is somewhat confusing about install and what to do with the vacuum advance.
Any help?
New IAP Distributor
Re: New IAP Distributor
Mark,
It DOES replace the Marelli, but it is made by 123ignition.nl in The Netherlands. Same company as your new ignition offering, but made like a dizzy. It is a solid state unit that has 15 selectable advance curves, selectable by a rotary switch. It has been on the market for some time for other car models, but just recently adapted for the FIAT TC.
Just wanted to find someone who has had some experience with it - setting it up, selecting the best curve, etc. As you have dealt with the company, what do you know?

Re: New IAP Distributor
I looked at the IAP site and it says that dizzy won't fit a Fiat TC.
My unit is made in the US, locally here in So Cal. I suppose they might be sourcing the electronics from Ni, but I don't think so. I've been down to the plant and have seen the units being built.
My unit has mechanical advance due to cost concerns. To build the electronic advance units they wanted an order of 300 units. They are going to offer an internal rev limiter in a couple of weeks if I want to add that feature.
I'm a little surprised IAP is selling it without the drive gear and using the stock coil. I don't see much advantage over a Marelli unit.
I opted for the block fitment to alleviate the hood clearance issue with late block/early chassis combos. It also cleans up the top of the motor without the dizzy and wiring up there.
