FIAT 124 SEDAN IN HAWAII

Post by dino8925 »

Greetings and Aloha Everyone!!!!,

My name is Dominick or you can call me DiNo (Dee-no). I have a 1975 FIAT 124 Special " T " Sedan. That's right, a four door sedan I brought from Naples Italy myself back in 2003. I paid the low price of about 200 bucks for an exhaust leakin, carb chokin masterpiece. It used to take leaded gas until I melted one of the aluminum pistons and then it sat for about 2 years in California. I recently had a new 2.0 engine put in, a new clutch, and I cut the coil springs (too much). I thought 1600 cc's made this girl run but a 2.0 is REALLY special. I am on the island of Oahu now and just can't seem to find a single FIAT mechanic or parts supplier anywhere. Anywho, I am honored to be on the site, I look forward to any and all conversations with my fellow FIAT enthusiasts. Aloha!!

Welcome! We're a long way away, but I've just acquired a 1970 124 wagon (Familiare) which my first plan is to get back on the raod, then eventually turn into a bit of a surf homage - very appropriate for your part of the world! I visited twice in 2000 and 2004 during RIMPAC - nice part of the world. There are some Spider enthusiasts around you so I'm sure they can help you on the local support.

Welcome to the site DiNo. You're in luck, we have a very knowledgeable member on the same island. (At least I think its the same island; I haven't been to Hawaii in almost 20 years). Manoa Matt will chime in soon. You can also look him up in the members section.

Would love to see pictures of your sedan.

Hey DiNo, welcome to the forum. So, your 124 is a family car, eh? I suppose you could say our Spiders are also a family car, but it would have to be a pretty small family!

Perthling- Hey I was a Navy guy myself for about 14 years. That's how I got this awesome car! Looking forward to seeing the "surf homage".

Europa/htchevyii- Hey I posted some pics a while ago on an italian car club site. I will have to update this site but here is the link until then: http://gallery.italiancarclub.com/124og ... ats-right/

rlux4- funny, I tried fitting my wife and kiddiepoos in a 67 porsche and it's no party. Bumped heads and sour faces for sure!

Great meeting you guys! Thanks for "chiming in"!!!

I bought my 124 Spider when I joined the Navy but was still studying at university. As they were never sold in RHD or sold new in Australia, mine came from California and was converted before I used it as a daily driver on the west coast. I was then posted to the east coast of Australia and the Spider came with me, and driven from Sydney to Melbourne and back (about 1000km) when I was posted to my application course.

My cars are also in the online gallery - in fact, I recall seeing your car in the gallery and wishing there were more photos, when I started looking for a sedan or wagon!
