Hey Brady, looks real sweet. Are you using epoxy primer or black chassis paint on the steering column.

I might suggest that all your bushings and spring points have good lithium grease on them to prevent squeaking, especially the clutch pedal. I had to hose mine down with some spray that finely worked its way into the squeaky areas.

I decided to use black chasis satin on it. I figured it might hold up better. This was out of a can. I had to do some small brackets and such for the bottom. So I got a few cans. Otherwise I would have used my spray gun.
I used Crinkle paint on the hub for the steering wheel. That stuff is pretty cool.

Tip on a great lube. This is a teflon lube that is...available at Radio Shack
1.Superior adhesion: stays where put.
2. Wont wash off, disperse, break down or turn rancid
3. Does not attract dust or other contaminants
4. Impervious to salt and fresh water
5. All temperature use from -65° to +600°
6. Clear

Hey guys,
I actually got something done on the car. I ripped out the old bracket that held the rad overflow bottle in and welded in a custom bracket for the new stainless bottle Mark sells. Also as I was welding. It was a shame to see the new paint boil. Just primer,so no worries.

Man I love fabricating things. I'm making a skid plate for my car. Just like this other skid plate, I'm using the rear bolt of the bumper support to hold the front. I made mine 7" longer than the original and the back is going to connect to the cars frame Like in the pic with the front end cut off. I'm using the bottom bolt on the steering box on the outside of the frame rail and there is the same hole on the opposite side behind the idler arm. This would eliminate any possibility of messing up the front end if it bottoms out. Let me know if anyone sees any issues with my design. I still have to figure the spacing of the brackets. I figure I'll leave enough room so the oil can be changed without issues.

Always best to have everything in place when mocking up a custom piece. If it does not work at least you have a new fireplace grate...
