Engine identification - Brava engine in my fiat?

Post by Lincoln M »

I have a 1981 fiat spider 2000 that was originally fuel injected.

It has since had at least 2 engine/trans swaps that I know of, and currently has a 2000cc engine w/5spd trans.

I'm trying to determine what year the engine is.

What I do know is:
- points ignition

Um... I think that's about it :)

Would anyone know where I should be looking for engine numbers etc to help sort this out?

Thanks,
Lincoln

Since posting above, I've continued looking for a good online resource to identify my engine and have found an excellent one!

So the journey continues it seems...

Reading at the link above, I read my casting numbers and have now found out:

I have a 1979 Brava engine

Related numbers:
Engine block
- 132CB1A (apparently the "C" means coupe, and the "B" means Brava)
- 4194208 (or 6)

Head
- 4439644
- 132AC2C
- Fiat S62

4-2-1 exhaust

Also found a very enoyable (and informative) history on the Fiat here:

Hopefully now I can at least find replacement distributor cap and points...

none of the 2L engines came with points, they were all electronic. There aren't too many options for points, basically either single or dual points.

well that will make replacement difficult then :)

Likely I should convert back to a normal 2L electronic set up I guess?

And they are singal points.
