Hello from Nanaimo BC, Canada

Post by jmathers »

Hi everyone, great site!
I have a a metallic blue1980 Fiat spider (Carb). This is my second fiat, prior fiat was a 1974 fiat 124, I bought the car in 2007 and did a minor restoration. The paint is still in good condition and also the interior. Eventually when I decide to spend the bucks I will replace the rear quarter panels and any other parts that are rusted. I have cleaned and treated all the areas that are common in fiats to rust. Overall the car is in great condition for its year. I see that there is some local Fiat lovers here on Vancouver Island. I will post some picture of my fiat.

Hello Jmathers. Are you another "jim"? There is Jim in Victoria with his Volumex Spider, and Jim in Campbell River, and Jim... Well, if you've been lurking on the site, you'll know there is a bunch of of us Spider owners on the island and in the interior of BC, not to forget Vancouver area.

Show us photos of your car, when you have a chance. I'm wondering if your "metallic blue" is actually the "Ardesia Metallic" of my '81?

Keep in mind that Chris in Naramata (Narfire) is organizing a run up the island from Victoria and then over to Whistler on the May long weekend. Hopefully we can get a few Spider owners to come up from Washington and even further south for the run.

Hi jmathers.
I was over your way last weekend (sans fiat)and might be again in a week or so(with fiat if weather permits). Any mods done to the carb'd 80? evidently there are some simple bolt ons that will give the car a little more zip.
send a pm with your phone # and i'd love to see the car.
As Launie mentioned, try and keep a couple of days available on the May long weekend. Thinking about a trip from Victoria to Nanaiomo via the lower roads and Crow and Gate and then to whistler. The accoms at whistler are usually off season rates then. Hoping the north islanders can make it as well as the south islanders and even a few from the mainland. There is a fiat club in the Seattle area as well...
Anyway, welcome to the forum, lots of great advice and place to sometimes find those hard to get parts.

Hello,

I am still learning how to upload pictures and I am not having any luck! Although,I was able to post a picture of my car in my personal settings. The metallic blue of my car is also an Ardesia Metallic-----very nice color I must say! Any way I will continue to play and learn how to use this system.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. I'm just up the road from you in Courtenay, although since our son and daughter-in-law live in Nanaimo, we spend a fair bit of time down your way. I too have an '80 Spider, although mine is fuel injected. Do a search on posting pictures and you will find out how to do it. It's not that difficult - I managed my way through the process!
Will hopefully meet you with the rest of the "locals" in May!

The May event sounds like a great plan! It will be an opportunity to see the Fiat Islanders.

Cheers,
