1800 Fuel Injected?
1800 Fuel Injected?
I have an 81 Spider 124 with the 2.0l. My engine is garbage. Looking at a 1.8l with trans. Will the fuel injection system from my 2.0l bolt up on the 1.8l engine?
Re: 1800 Fuel Injected?
It should work for you. This is how my car was when I originally bought it. One problem though is if you are using stock parts you'll need to use the original FI exhaust manifold to accommodate the O2 sensor. The 2 liter manifold will sit about 3/4" lower because the 1756 block is shorter. Other than that I can't think of any issues..

You'll love it!
I have enjoyed not only 2 liters with FI, but also 1800cc & 1608cc fun. No problems. Instead of installing a 2 ltr down pipe, I asked the local muffler shop to install a bum for the lambda sensor on the existing down pipe.
Don't forget you'll need to upgrade your fuel lines to handle the extra PSI.
The result of your work will be very reliable starting & plenty of get up & go.

Re: 1800 Fuel Injected?
since you already have an FI car, no need to upgrade anything. Just swap in the 1800. We've done an 1800 conversion and it works well. Not as much torque as the 2L, but still has decent power

You will also need the fuel tank, some of the hard lines, the fuel pump and filter from the FI car to be transfered over to the 1800 car.

Ah yes, good old reading comprehension.
Re: 1800 Fuel Injected?
Thanks everyone for your help. I am going to pick up the engine and trans in a week or so and get started. I will post pictures of the project as I go. Looking forward to driving it.

I don't know if it will be an issue on an 1800, but on my 1608 the intake manifold has to be bolted to the head before the head is installed. You either can't get the breather seperator in, or the intake manifold if one or the other is installed first.
