1800 pulleys on a 2000?
1800 pulleys on a 2000?
My '75 has the 2000 block, when they put it in they used the 2000 pulleys which doesn't work with the original belt and 1800 alt mounting bracket. My main question is will the 1800 crank pulley work on the 2000 crank so I can retain the proper belt and not change the speed of the alt. It looks like the w/p pulley should bolt right on. Was also wondering if my head with a 132AB9A 562 4277590 casting numbers is the 1800 head or something else.

There are 2 different versions of the 1800 (1756cc) engine. One has a 29mm crank nose and M10 flywheel bolts. The other has 30mm crank nose and M12 flywheel bolts. The 2000 (1995cc) has a 30mm crank nose and M12 flywheel bolts.
If you have the later 1756, then the pulleys will physically fit. As for the pulley diameter, there are at least 10 different configurations.. if you have a picture of your parts I can give you an answer.
You could also move the alternator to the intake side, and use the 2 liter pulleys.

I'm currently building up a 2L motor. I'm using the single track front crank pulley from a 76 1.8L and the deep water pump pulley, which line up as they are both from the same donor engine. The alternator is the later 2L version installed on the exhaust side with the use of an early Fiat alternator pivot mounted to the two lower studs on the block. I was pleased the later alternator lined up, I thought I would have to use the early 76 alternator or do some fab work to the mounting.
I was supprised that the 76 crank pulley fit on the 2L, as like Jason and others have informed the 29mm vs. the 30mmm pulley. Jason do you know the year that they made the change?

Maybe when I get home tonite I'll pull the one off the parts car since it's a 75 and do some measuring. The current pulley I have on the runner has a small pulley in back the larger one second out, then one more smaller pulley, and since they used the shallow w/p pulley it puts it at one helluva angle to reach the alt. The 75 has the larger pulley in the back with 2 smaller pulleys in front.

I really have no idea. 76-77 were transition years, there's a mixed bag of results. To further complicate the situation, 131's had different pulleys, Lancias had all kinds also.. of course everyone swaps parts around and 30 years later you can get dozens of combinations of pulleys. Oh yeah, guys outside the US got other pulleys too!Jason and others have informed the 29mm vs. the 30mmm pulley. Jason do you know the year that they made the change?

well, the crank pulley didn't work, sooo close. So I'm gonna use a shorter belt, for the smaller back pully on the 2.0l eng, and hopefully don't fry the alt with the faster speeds. so I'm looking for the 2l pulley with a large pulley clear in the back.

The smaller pulley will make the alternator/water pump run slower speeds. I'd watch the temperature at idle, also your alternator probably won't charge the battery until you're off idle.

yeah, I realized that as soon as I got the belt on. I should've known better oh well, Everything seems to be ok, alt, doesn't do much at an idle, temp is a little warmer, we'll see how it does in summer. I'm thinking about seeing if athe local machine shop can bore the other pulley out to the 2l crank size, don't know since the 2l's pulley also weighs more I'm thinking it's cause a balance issue

If you bore it out you will also need to recut the keyway deeper. Just FYI.

there is also a depth issue, the early pulleys use a timing gear that the seal rides on, the later the seal rides in the crankshaft.
