Hi All,
I have done this a few times before, but thought I get your input. Can you guys confirm this
Thread:
Left Hand hub has a RH thread
Right Hand hub has a LH thread.
This is what the book says, but looks odd. When I turn the wheel. The nut looks to undo.
Torque:
Preload to 15ftlbs
release and torque to 5ftlbs
Back off 30 deg (1/2 a flat)
This leaves the nut only finger tight. When the tabs are knocked in, I can lightly jiggle the nut.
Is this what you guys do?

Re: Stub Axle Nuts - Thread and Torque
It's opposite of what you would think so that is correct. They're not going anywhere once you bend the tab in. I can't find torque specifications in my book so maybe someone else will chime in.

This is what one does, there are a few things left out:ITA124 wrote:Torque:

Rotate the hub in both directions 4-5 rotations in each direction to seat the bearings while it is at the heavier torque.
Another thing left out is checking the runout which shouldn't exceed .005" which can only be seen with a dial indicator. If it does exceed that amount they suggest redoing the entire process.
It is a bit fussy, I confess I have tended to run my car a bit tight with no ill effects (so far). Be sure and use new nuts each time.
