rear cam housing seal

Post by ethandf06 »

my 82 fiat spider started leaking from the cam housing seal so i replaced it and then though i would go ahead and replace the rear seal or the seal for the cap on the back of the cam. i just used rtv because the auto parts store said they didn't make them... so when i used the rtv i let it set up then tightened the nuts down all the way then i later found out that the cam hits the inside of the cap and doesn't allow it to turn freely. any ideas what i should do?

Either make your own gasket out of gasket material from your local autoparts store, or call one of the Fiat vendors to order the gasket.

Or send me your address, I think I may have a spare one from an old gasket set.

they do make the rear cam gasket. i got some in my overhaul kit. I think you can buy them individually at vick auto. but don't quote me on that. Somewhere they are available.
