79 Spider Missing a little

Post by barnesjtsl »

When the tank is full it runs like a top. When the tank gets to around a third it starts missing/cutting out a little.

When I fill it up it seems to run fine, but today it happened and I filled up, it ran fine until it got to around 3/4 tank started doing the cutting out thing again.

When running at higher rpms it seems to run fine, but when it is arount 2000-2500 it does the cutting out thing.

I have changed the air filter. It has an electric fuel pump in the trunk right by the tank. A gas filter on the fuel line just outside the tank and before the fuel pump, and another small fuel filter just before the carburetor. I have changed both filters and it didn't seem to make any difference.

Sediment/water in the tank maybe?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I've seen pickup tubes in the tank with rust holes, so the pump sucks air as the level goes down. Filters on the inlet side of an electric pump can be problematic. Electric pumps make great pressure but not much suction
