Greeting from Toronto, Canada
Greeting from Toronto, Canada
Hello, I was happy to find your site and joined within minutes of reading a few posts. I picked up a 79 Spider 2000 last spring after I sold my 83 Alfa Spider Veloce. To be honest, it was the best thing I did. The Alfa was a nightmare (no offense to Alfa owners). The 79 came directly form Texas (had a middleman) do the transaction and the delivery ... is completely original with white paint (faded to chalk) burgundy/black interior.I drove it every sunny day last summer and other than a few minor mechanical (tie rod end and a electrical relay), the car drove perfectly. Know I saved a few dollars over the winter (married with kids), I am ready for some upgrades...I will be checking in often. Cheers!

Hi Shazam, great screen name. You can see I have no imagination.
There is a big contingent of our Northern Neighbors here on the board so you are sure to find some spiders nearby.
So welcome and tell us more "aboot" your Spider, and let's see some pictures.

Welcome to the forum. You've found a great site here, and we're glad to have you aboard. The 79s were pretty bogged down by smog stuff, is yours stock? If it is, are you allowed to do performance mods up there?

Thanks for the welcome. The car is stock..no mods. Your right about the emission stuff and will be removing this year (any pre 1986 car is exempt from emission standards in southern ontario)!! Hope to get some advice from the experts. I picked up some 14" sendel wheels last year (pretty cool).

Wecome. You'll find this a great place to source info and parts. Are you going to change a few things on the 79's engine? Some bolt on mods evidently can really spruce the engine up.
Top down weather there yet?

oh yea....pics?

The car is completely stock...the engine has 58,000miles and is running strong. I hope to lower the suspension (springs/shocks) and put on some new wheels...A warm spell is on the horizon and I should be cruising this week.
Question..how do I post pictures?
Cheers!

Hello Shazam, and Welcome!
That "Search" icon at the top of the page will soon become your best friend; for maintenance tips, parts sources, etc. The site needs a true "FAQ" tab, so Search is the next-best thing for now.

Welcome from a fellow Canadian, up north in sunny Ottawa.
From Flickr, you need to paste the "jpg" name of the picture between the two "img" symbols from the message toolbar, by copying it from the "Properties" of the picture. Nice looking car - enjoy!
