Anti- Rattle clips... Which is correct?

What is the correct install procedure for the rattle clips. I have seen documentation that shows just one on the pad bottom, then one on top & bottom then one with top & bottom plus the spring? I have new springs for my front calipers but only have the clips for my rears. Thanks much....

One or the other, not both.
Single spring on bottom or two clips on side.
