Bushfire recovery - 12 months on.

Post by Curly »

Some of you may remember this shot that was taken a few days after the devestating Black Saturday fires of Feb '09 ripped through many of the rural communities near where I live.

I revisited the same area today and took another shot of the same location.

Nature has been busy and the weather kind to us. Many of the forest's burnt tree trunks have new green shoots and the sound of birdlife returning is most encouraging.

Even the fence grew back! WOW.
It kind of amazing on how the earth works.

We have almost the same effect here, its called snow. 6 months later and everything turns green and the birds come back.

Curly, Thats a black Spider right? The top pic looks like a dark brown or slightly reddish highlights, probably reflections.

The colour is called 'Cherry Black Mica". It looks like a very deep purple/black in most conditions (especially out of direct sunlight), but in direct sunlight it has highlights of anything from a reddish purple to a Coca Cola brown.
