just noticed.... small windshield with wipers in my way. do all the 70's 124 spiders have the wipers postioned in the middle of the windshield? thought it was just put on to high "but no" if i put them lower they don't have enough arch to wipe the area in front of my face. should i lower the arch and learn the gangster lean and drive from the center console?
I thought my YJ was bad but this is unreal. Think I'll just keep them in the trunk for now.
Any Ideas?
Wipers...or linkage
Re: Wipers...or linkage
Here is a shot of a '70 and a '71, with something funny in the middle.
The wipers are in the normal off position. They swing past vertical when cycling. I haven't seen the problem that you describe, and I believe all the spiders are set up similarly. Maybe yours has an issue. Sorry, I know that doesn't help your problem, but I wanted to verify that they aren't designed to be the way that you described.

Dang Alvon, where'd you dig up that pic?
The wipers on mine (burgandy car) come up perpendicular to where they are parked so they don't swipe the entire windshield. It's very annoying, especially in a downpour on a twisty mountain road. In fact, the left side is practically in my line of vision when fully up.

Re: Wipers...or linkage
Couldn't you detach the whole wiper arm and position it a little higher so that the arc of the wipe goes all the way past your line of sight?(okay that makes hardly any sense. hopefully you catch the gist of it)mdrburchette wrote:Dang Alvon, where'd you dig up that pic?

I know when i've taken the arms off of my car i could put them back in different positions

Re: Wipers...or linkage
When I got my 81 I had the exact same problem. Changing the wiper position would change the sweep angles. turned out the PO did some work and screwed up the parked position angles. See the picture this is correct and works just peachy.
