Just got an 84 pininfarina spider for $500 two months ago. been breaking my knuckles restoring it. and learning.
it runs great but has dozens of small issues. Ive already uncovered lots of horrors.
someone put a light oak dash kit on the orignal wood. Picking the glue off took hours.
the upper center console was built with same light oak. WIth no original underneath.. totally weird. I bought all original stuff on ebay. Cutting carpet myself. Got perfect steering wheel. door panels.. arm rests.. and rocker molding ash tray. and parking brake bezel... oh what fun... Im up to 2k already but its coming together nicely.
Turbo rims were spray painted... gee thanks that comes off easy.... not..
spray paint on back chrome bumper.. really ? who thought this was a good idea.
Great seats but not the right seats that came with car.
But I love the car. Im fixing it up several times per week. body filling the light rust and pulling out the dents.
My restore will go into the $4000 range on it and if all is lucky it will be a good buy. Fiats are my favorite by far of the triumph mg fiat battle.. the other two are not even close. I do wish the engines were bigger. The MGC maybe my next project.

Re: Hey everyone
so....what color is it?? Welcome to the forum. There is plenty of help to be found here.Try to post some pix of your project for us,when you get a chance.4 grand for a sorted out car is not a bad investment, that would barely buy a fair MG.I have been the British car route, and you are right...no contest!

Re: Hey everyone
Yes ill get some pics on here tomorrow.. Im totally stoked to have it.. I drive a z3 and honestly enjoy driving this fiat more.. more leg room.. and sounds better... Just cant drive it as far probably yet until i get it all fixed up. For a obsessive compulsive person who must fix everything broken this added about 200 things to my to do list.. I was thrilled to see how rare the 84 model is... that just gave me an excuse to spend more fixing it up. I had a 72 fiat 850 spider back in 1989 and after it overheated on the highway I had to hitch a ride to arrange towtruck and when i got back it was stolen gone..No cell phones back then .. the good old days... asked the cops they say they didnt tow it.. so I had one.. for a few months and i loved that one too.. No internet we had to go to the local junkyards and hope for the prize. funny how thats changed. The internet makes everything available. People are stripping and crushing these cars at an alarming rate right now.
If you have one keep it and fix it up i think the prices will shoot up big time over the next ten years.

Then ill replace pic with the finished car.. When im big pimpin with the shiny rims with spinners and chameleon paint job dropped down to one inch off the ground.... lol just kidding gonna stay black
