first fiat

Post by texan168 »

Hello, I just bought an 81 spider for my son our plan is to rebuild it together it looks like it will be a fun little ride for him once we are done. All my experiance is with small block chevys so a fuel injected four banger is completely new to me I hope I don't bother yall with too many questions.

Welcome aboard! There is nohting like a car project for a father and son! Where in Texas are you? There are plenty of cars and clubs in both the DFW area and in Houston.

Howdy, welcome to the forum. You'll find that working on these cars is relatively easy, not many things that are real hard to get to. Well, maybe a starter bolt or two.

sorry I havn't replies sooner I don't have access to the internet very often, I'm in the SA area, built an SS Chevelle with my older boy and yes doing it together is a blast. I did read about them starter bolts somebody on here said they had to pull the trans to get to em? Some engineer didn't think that one threw. Thanks for all your responses

Nah, you don't have to pull the tranny, in fact it's just the other way around, you'd have to pull the starter to drop the tranny. But the top bolts are a bear to get to. It takes a couple feet of extensions and a swivel on the rachet to get em. But it's like everything, once you've done it, it get's easier. Maybe you'll get lucky and not have to worry about it though.
Have fun, that's the main thing.
