Greetings from Ireland
Greetings from Ireland
Hello everyone. It great to find a 124 forum. don't know how I didn't find it before. Has it been on the go for long? My first impressions are very good. Anyway a little about my car. It a 77 CS fitted with a two litre mirafiori engine and box with a primative from of electronic ignition. The car is now red but was origionally a cream CS 1800 from Iowa. It is amazingly rust free. I looked at the car in Dublin and realised I would be very lucky to find another car in Ireland or the UK with the body work as good. I stippped the car back to the bare metal and resprayed it, Repaired the subframe chassis rails and I have just finished fitting poly bushes to the front arms. The rubber one I first fitted were rubbish. The next major job is the replace the engine with a 1600 lancia unit and check the gearbox bearings etc. I know changing the engine is sacrilege but at 25mpg and the price of fuel in Ireland(1.25euro/litre) I can't enjoy the car as much as I would like. Anyway, once again, greetings from Ireland

hello, Trev. welcome here.
actually, modifications of engines really isn't that sacreligious as you might think... although, here we tend to go bigger and up the performance, rather than downscale for economy.
are you planning on posting pictures soon? i love pictures.

Hey Trev, welcome to the forum. We have had the pleasure of having Jim Macgill from Dublin as our guest here for the last two Fiat Freakouts. He brought a new 500 one year and a Multipla this past year.Great fellow. We would love to see some pix when you get a chance.I have a 77 model with stock 1800 and ADFA carb.I really havent checked the fuel mileage, but I suspect it isnt as good as my 82 fuel in jected car. This could be for a number of reasons ,though.
