Potential Australian owner
Potential Australian owner
although I haven't yet found the right car yet I'm looking! Spider's are few and far between here in Australia. I used to own Fiats and Lancias when I lived in England and love the twin cam engine so to have one in a Spider would be ideal!

Re: Potential Australian owner
Where in Oz are you? There are a few Spiders on carsales, carsguide etc plus one came up in our Club magazine recently which was a good buy.
I'm also a fan of the Lampredi twink, which explains why I've owned about 7 124s in various guises so far...

hairofthedog,
Welcome to the forum.
Where are you located ?
You just missed the Fiat Nationals, I'll be posting up some photos shortly. 3 Spiders were there including a Rally
Back in August 09 there where 14 Spiders for sale in Australia, on carsales.com.au

G'day Hairofthedog,
Location, location, location It's a big country, but I know of a Spider (recently ex-California) that's would make a nice project and is being offered for a good price in Vicoria.

Re: Potential Australian owner
hello, thanks for the replies.
I'm in NSW but a trip to Melbourne or Brisbane for the right car isn't too difficult! I'm after a daily/occasional use car, in drivable condition but possibly in need of some minor (i.e. not structural) work. Year or engine model isn't too important.
There appear to be three for sale on carsales.com.au at present but two are a bit over-priced for me and the other is 99% sold (whatever that means!)

Don't let some of the other forum members see that comment! They'll regale you with the merits of the pre-82, 82 and post-82 vehicles until your eyes fall out...hairofthedog wrote:Year or engine model isn't too important.
I would suggest finding one that has already been converted to RHD if you can, and a sound body and interior is more important than the mechanical side which can be remedied relatively easily in Aus due to us having other Fiats of that era back in the day.

ha ha! I've already picked up on the pre-post 82 themes...
Yes, RHD conversion and sound body are the most important things I'm looking for.
and (I'm told) the colour is VERY important

Re: Potential Australian owner
The best mix in my eyes - early bumpers and a (presumably Euro-spec) 1756cc engine. Price is pretty fair too.
