Velcro Strip on Top?

Post by TVST*R »

How do you keep the Velcro strip adhered to the Frame?

Were they originally sewn on to the frame? Mine is just glued
directly to the metal and pulls off easily.

I've tried weather strip adhesive and some others but it still
flys open with the top up at 50+. I find myself reaching over
to close her every few miles. Both sides do it.

are you talking about that small strip just behind the little window in the back seat?

my top fits well enough to keep me "dry" in the rain. it does not fit well enough to keep the noise down, or the drafts out.

i don't worry about those little strips of velcro.

I find it quite annoying that they don't stay down.
I want to replace the "fuzzy" side (is that the female  ?)
and attach it to the top frame proper like.

On mine it helps reduce the drafts and noise, but not much else. I wish it would stay put when I put the top down, but they always come apart.

The point of the Velcro is so it WILL seperate
when you put the top down.

Not the 3M brand...Is it better than others?

Mark-
Do you know how those were made originally? Sewn as one piece?

it's pretty darn strong. I even use it for gasket sealer when I'm sure I won't have to take it apart again. I use it on tops to attach the flaps to the cross bars

The 3M adhesive is great stuff. We had to use it to glue the turbo hose on the dually when the turbo was boosting too high and blowing it off. That's after 5 trips to the dealership and $3000 of warranty work. Made it to Michigan and back. :D
