thanks for the welcome.
to 'maytag' : I do speak french ; but Bruges is in the Flemmish part of Belgium, where we speak Dutch.
( I know, strange for such a little country ( and ther's also a little part where they speak German), but then again, Belgium IS a strange country) :)

(next time I'll look for smaller pics., this one is too big)

Hi Geert, welcome to the forum. Yes, pictures here will run off the page if you don't resize them first to about 1/2 size.
I've also been in a car that lost a race to one of the tires. Luckily it wasn't a Spider, it was a Rambler, so it wouldn't have mattered much if it had been damaged.
Good to have you aboard.

good Lookin' car, Geert!

And while I remembered that Bruges was not part of the Francophone area of Belgium, I rarely met anyone in Belgium who didn't speak at least SOME French. And as I speak ZERO Flemmish..... :?
Anyway; Welcome again!

We have a lot of "Oldtimer-Rallyes" and "Oldtimer-Meetings". Thats not racing. Its for "pathfinder" an for constancy...
The Eifel is very nice, part of my family lived there.
in the west of the Eifel are the Ardennen.

as "Snoopy" explained : it was at the Ardennen-Eifel Klassik (Belgium-Luxembourg-Germany). Not really a rally, but still competition : regularity. Finding the exact road ( on road book ) at the exact speed. ( if there is interest I would be happy to explain more in detail, or give an example of a map ).

it is a rather old picture ( 1996 ) ( my wife forced me, sir ! ) , nowadays I'm more doing that kind of events ( in Belgium, the Netherlands and the North of France) as a driver or co-driver in a 1973 Opel Manta A or a Mini. (until the Fiat is really prepared for it of course ( in fact, she's too precious for that work )).

I have done a similar event in my Fiat.We call them time/distance rallys. They are a lot of fun but much, much tougher than it seems they would be! The fact it is an older pic answers why your 'Mini' bumpers arent on the car :D

I do the same TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) rallies in my Mazda. I wouldn't take the Spider, since over half the roads are gravel, and over half the events are in winter or muddy conditions. It's great fun though and helps fill in the long off-season from track days and summer cruises.

This picture is from a rallycross last October, but you get the idea.

Geert - You must have been very close to Spa and the Ring. I am so envious!!
