New Owner from Michigan

Post by ready4pullback »

Hey guys,
just bought my first Fiat. An 80 carb'd 2000. Looking for a new toy to consume garage space and buzz around town in. I'm located in Dearborn, right in Ford's back yard. I know my way around the garage a bit, but mostly simple stuff. (I have a feeling I'm going to learn all about carbs with this car). Anyways, Cheers!

Hi Hal, welcome to the forum. You're in good company out there in Michigan, Mbouse is another 80, carb'd owner in your state. We'd like to see your car, so post some pics for us:

Welcome Hal! You'll find plenty of people on this forum willing to help you become familiar with your car and you're in a good place to meet great Fiat people. Get it running by July and join us in North Carolina for the Fiat Freakout.

I don't know if anyone saw this car on Ebay, but I'll be picking up tomorrow.

Nice and rusty, but apparently the motor was just rebuilt 7000 miles ago. Everything runs and it can be driven home, but I guess I wont know how extensive this project will be until I get into it. I'm just looking for a little hobby car. Something fun to drive around town and tinker with. More to follow.

It does look like it needs a bit of tender loving care. Make sure you check out the shock towers, crossmember and overall unibody integrity before driving it too far.

First off, I think that is a 1979 Spider. The vin # matches up to a 79. The VIN # only has 13 digits.
Look inside the drivers door and see what the build date was for that car, when you get it.

Thank you for the tips guys. I appreciate any insight into this process. I don't want to get into something that might bite me. Looking forward to actually seeing if this car is as advertised... Luckily it's fairly close to home. Thank you again for the support!
