Fiat owner again

Post by bugsbunny »

Hey all. A friend and I bought a 1978 spider for a track car. I had a fuel injected '80 years ago and this car reminds me how great that one was. These cars are very underrated. Its good to be back.

Hello there. Welcome to the forum. Will the car only be used at the track? If so you'll need another one to have "on the road" fun too.
And yeah, we like pics.

Thanks guys. Yea, its a lemons car. We feel guilty about this because the car isn't that bad. One of the team has talked about making it a street car again later but that's just the guilt talking. Glad to here other lemoners are here. One of the team is a pro welder so that takes care of the cage. He's measuring this weekend. I'll try to get some pictures up this weekend (get my friends kid to show me how). And Ron, don't think a road car isn't running through my head; just need more garage.

We're in northern CA. We've been accepted for the Sears Point race in March. After that hoping for Thunderhill . I actually have great faith in a Fiat spider to last. Are you guys leaving the windshield on?

I dont think they will let you run w/o the winshield(I may be wrong). Also, with a convertible you will have to wear arm restraints in case of rollover.Probably not a bad idea.We joke about our car,but our problems were due to waiting too long to get serious with the car.We hadnt driven the car the night before we were supposed to be at the track.I cant emphasize enough how much preperation it takes, even for a low budget race.We learned the hard way!! Makes you have a lot of respect for the pros.Good luck and keep us posted.

Amen to that, Craig, which reminds me we need to have another work day. I'm going next week to find a seat that'll fit me. Think about what weekend will work for you.

Good luck with your race, Bugs. Let us know how you fair.
