mechanical fuel pump

Post by 6572 »

Okay guys, here is my first post on the forum. I have just replaced the mechanical F.P. on a 79 carbed spider. Connecting up the fuel lines I noticed a difference in the orientation of the inlet/outlet on the new pump vs. the old removed one. On the old pump the inlet was facing the left front tire and the outlet was toward the charcoal cannister (left front corner). The new pump inlet is toward the firewall and the outlet is toward the front tire. Does this 45 degree rotation make any difference? As much fun as I had changing this pump I still would rather not do it over.

Pics maybe soon. Embarrassed to take pics right now. Car is buried beneath stuff in garage. It's a box stock blue with blue interior, tan top. Right now trying to do some body work. I mashed the front fender just behind the headlight. Slow going as I also need to finish the restoration of my daughter's 67 stang.
